About the recipe

This smoothie’s main ingredient is pineapple which can be used in frozen or fresh form, along with greek yogurt as the liquid to help puree the pineapple.

There are no added sugars, and the smoothie is full of pineapple flavor in combination with other fruit, such as banana, to add delicious and creamy flavors to the drink.

Natural sweeteners such as maple syrup go into making the smoothie to give sweet flavors but is entirely optional to keep control of the calories.

The additional liquid that goes into making the smoothie is pineapple juice to dominate the flavors of the pineapple and make it more consumable, as pineapple tastes so good.

This is a healthy version of the smoothie again with no added sugars, and all sugars are natural from the fruits and maple syrup and is a low-calorie smoothie with many health benefits.

Pineapple: Use a perfectly ripe pineapple if using a fresh pineapple or you can permanently have frozen pineapple chunks handy in the freezer any time.

Banana: The banana should be peeled and sliced if making use of fresh fruit, or there are frozen bananas available in stores to use in recipes or freeze a store-bought banana as a DIY and for cooking purposes.

Greek yogurt: This ingredient is a no-fat, high-protein yogurt that is a much better replacement for unhealthy drinks and is beneficial to the human body as it provides protein.

Pineapple juice: Use a natural, organic, or freshly extracted juice without any sugars added to it to give a good consistency to the smoothie.

Maple syrup: This sweetener has fewer calories than honey use it to add some sweet flavor, or use honey or skip the sweetener.

Ice: The smoothie made using fresh fruits requires ice to get a cold effect, and frozen fruits used may not require using of ice, but this ingredient is optional if using frozen fruits.

Variation and substitutions

The smoothie has pineapple as the main ingredient, and alter others as per requirement.

Fruits: Banana is a good combination with pineapple, but other combinations that taste well with pineapple are mango or blueberry, or orange.

Combine the above fruits with pineapple as solo fruits, or mix all the fruits you like.

Juice: Other liquids can be substituted with pineapple juice, such as coconut milk or a healthier version of almond milk or soy milk for a vegan option or as a non dairy liquid option.

If you like to use other juice instead of pineapple juice, orange juice is the best choice but make sure to add organic or 100% pure juice to avoid sugars.

Yogurt: Other yogurts, too, are a great option, such as delicious greek yogurts, but they may need to be a healthier option as they can increase or spike the calorie count.

Sweetener: Any sweetener makes a good choice, such as maple syrup or honey.

You can also opt for vanilla extract to avoid syrup or honey and give a mild sweet flavor, which is not sweet and can keep the calories low.

Water: If you do not prefer yogurt or milk, add plain water, which makes it less nutritious without any protein but is an ideal choice during snacking or to make as a quick smoothie.

Frozen fruits or fresh fruits to make the smoothie

The fruits you use should be fresh, but it is optional as there are other options to find fruits off-season and all the year.

We quickly get frozen fruits to make smoothies any time of the year, and every grocery store sells them in solo packs, which are cut and ready to use.

If using frozen ingredients, thaw them for a few minutes or use the fruits directly straight from the pack and blend well for a few minutes to get a perfect smoothie consistency.

The smoothie has pineapple, of course, as the name suggests. Pineapples have immense benefits related to controlling weight gain as they contain enzymes to reduce abdominal fat and keep overall weight in control.

The smoothie has an immense amount of protein and fiber from other ingredients, such as banana provides fiber that can avoid constipation.

Protein is from greek yogurt, making it a complete smoothie with fiber and protein and a low-calorie one to have by replacing meals.

Smoothies make a suitable replacement that prevents us from cooking long dishes, blending quick smoothies in minutes, and avoiding meal skipping.

The smoothies also reduce building appetite and make us feel full due to the fiber and protein content of the smoothie.

Storage and scaling

Store the drink for a maximum of a day to retain its freshness and retain its fresh flavors, and taste.

Store the smoothie airtight in the refrigerator to help the drink stay fresh and have it any time of the day, or store the leftovers in the same way.

If making to yield two glasses, double the quantity of the ingredients or store another glass of smoothie for later use.

Skip adding a banana and make the pineapple yogurt smoothie without banana with only pineapple, greek yogurt, and any juice.

Bananas can add around 80 to 100 calories and be replaced with another low-calorie fruit, such as berries, and be made similarly.

If skipped, bananas can reduce calories and be preferable for a no-banana pineapple smoothie.
